Yesterday was airport day again to pick up hubby. Sheesh I do that drive so often wish I could put my car in automatic pilot mode. The weather here is still crappy. One minute driving through snow squalls and then clear, then back to snow. Suppose to be like this all of Easter Weekend.
We are leaving in a few hours for Ohio. It’s my Dad’s 80th birthday and I have a little surprise planned for him. He does not know we’re coming. It’s my brothers job to get him to the restaurant this evening not knowing that this little party is for him. Should be fun
.
The only person missing from tonight’s party is my Mom. She died 27 years ago this month when they both were 53 and he never re-married. I can’t even imagine losing my spouse in the prime of life. When you get to this age for most it means the kids are raised and out on their own, it means some measure of financial security, it means a twosome again able to travel and do all those things you said you were going to do when you reach this stage in life. So it was for them. She may not be there physically tonight but I know spiritually she’ll be sharing in the laughter and celebration with the family she loved so much.
Wishing you all a very Happy and Blessed Easter.
The fasts are done; the Aves said;
The moon has filled her horn
And in the solemn night I watch
Before the Easter morn.
So pure, so still the starry heaven,
So hushed the brooding air,
I could hear the sweep of an angel’s wings
If one should earthward fare.

Such a beautiful poem Elaine. Have a safe trip to your father’s. I can’t imagine being alone for 27 years. Your father must truly miss her. I hope his birthday surprise feels him with warmth and love. (((hugs)))
Hi Elaine,
Nor can I imagine losing one’s partner at the age of 53 and living by oneself for 27 years. How nice you will see (saw) your dad this Saturday! Your mom is with you in your heart and mind, and that is grand too. Happy Easter, Elaine!!!!!

Hi Elaine, I hope you had a nice Easter and I thought about you on April 2, you better believe it. I hope you enjoyed your weekend. You think you have crappy weather, yesterday on Easter Sunday, I was wearing my mother’s mink coat, can you believe it. I feel so good when I get to wear it. But I still wish winter would go away. Take good care my friend and enjoy the time left with your husband. God bless you my friend, luv, Pauline
