The poll results for, Do you read nutrition labels?
almost always 54%
almost never 8%
sometimes 38%
Thank you for answering to those who did. Don’t forget to answer the new poll on gas prices. I filled up 2 days ago and paid the most I have ever paid for gas, $3.58/gallon, ouch! How much are you paying where you’re located?

I’m afraid to fill up with gas, the price keeps changing all the time. I hope you have a great weekend. -S-
oh no, i missed that poll… I usually do read labels, so add one for that! Our gas actually has gone down today… Yoohooooooooo for that! Yaay…. 3.18 a gallon (Never thought I’d be glad for that type of price….)
We just hit $3.04 here in Newport, VT. No explanation why our gas prices are so low but no complaints either. That is if you consider that over $3.00 a gallon can actually be called low.
Because of a back injury that occurred in the service I’m sort of stuck having to use a rig that’s higher off the ground than a standard sedan or small car these days (easier to get in and out of on a regular basis) and since my wife and I live in snow country like you do I chose an old Jeep Cherokee vs a (shudder) mini-van. Needless to say, it’s starting to hurt at the pumps.
Now why can’t I ever leave a short comment?
Hi Elaine, I must tell you that I read every label, I am even annoying about this, but I want to know what goes in my body. As for the price of gaz, here in Canada, it’s well over 4.00 a gallon, when is it ever going to end. Who knows? Have a really nice Memorial weekend, luv, Pauline
Can’t vote in your poll, because the gas prices won’t change my driving habits. Over here in Hamburg, I bike just about everywhere I go, unless it’s too far for me. The gas is priced per liter, (about a quart), and now it’s hovering around 1.50 per liter and going up! The gas prices have always been higher here, there are far more gas efficient cars, far fewer SUVs and “gas-gulpers”.
I missed the first poll but I got to this one! Gas went up overnight one day last wk. One day it was $2.86, the next it was $3.09. Talk about mouths dropping at the tank! It’s down to $3.06 today. It hasn’t stopped me from going to where I need to go but it has made me stop any unnecessary trips into town. I can’t imagine paying $3.58/gallon though. Holy Cow!
Susan – wishing you the same.
Julie – I know what you mean, would be happy to see $3.00 again
Kirk – yep hear ya about being in snow country
Pauline – gas prices end? probably not for a long time
Karen – lucky for you that you can get on your bike and pedal to get you to where you’re going. Most do not have that option.
Kimmy- nope it won’t stop us because we don’t have mass transit and do not live in a major city. We have to drive to get to work, to do most things, and the oil companies know that.
$3.22 at Citgo here in town, but I fill up at Mobil which is usually 5 cents higher. It’s ridiculous and maddening at times, but it doesn’t stop me from going where I want to go.
I always read labels too.
Happy Memorial Day to everyone.
Hello Elaine, great to hear from you, sorry it took so long
to get back to you .
Yes gas prices are out of control, but still some keep their gas hogs and are willing to pay 45 to 50 dollars just to fill it up. Here the gas is about 3.17 as of now, but that could change by next week.
Take care my dear friend and enjoy a great Memorial Day !
Hi Elaine,
I missed the other poll.
Our Canadian gas prices have gone up but I am not very efficient at figuring anything other than gallons. It does similar fluxes though.
Have you ever noticed how much of your gas price is for taxes and government regulations? Deduct that and you can see where much of your money goes.
We use our economy minded car more often but not much change in our habits.
Hope you are having a great Memorial Day weekend!
Beth
Janet and Tom, amazing that you’re both on the East coast and have cheaper prices than me in MI. I would have thought yours would be higher.
Beth – they were just talking about that on the news the other night, how much per gallon goes for taxes. Quite a bit!
Hope everyone’s having a great Memorial Day weekend
Wow, $3.58? I was just complaining the other day that we had to pay $3.38! I’ve heard it’s supposed to go up to about $4.00. Ugh!!!!!!!!
God bless
Elaine – Re: biking… I am very lucky. Hamburg’s a pretty biker-friendly town, so I get where I need to go and get some exercise at the same time. A good deal!
I almost always look at nutrition labels.
Yikes!!! $3.58 a gallon. Well, it is still cheaper than bottled water and energy drinks.
$3.17 for a gallon of gas in the Ozarks.
Have a splendid week, Greg
I’ve been more conscious lately of labels. Though I think it is hard to prove that the contents are what is stated? (Ask China about their standards…)
But I’d say I am more healthy conscious now. Good thoughts.
