On A Mission Part II

Well to continue this saga. Many of you know that our last dog passed away 2½ years ago. She was a beautiful little fawn and white Chihuahua. We bought this dog for our daughter when she was 10 years old. Then of course kids move out, go to college and the family pet becomes “our” pet. So it was with Darcy.

I was devastated when she was gone and determined I would never go through this pain again! Of course we all know how that goes, once a pet lover always a pet lover. People are happier and healthier with pets. It’s good for our blood pressure. It’s good for our soul. A couple of months ago I started thinking it’s time to bring a new puppy into this house.

So the search began. At one time I thought I had found a perfect little all white female and she was sold right out from under me before I even made the 3 hour drive back to my house! Talk about pissed…I was! So it’s been a long process of finding breeders, instate and out of state. I’ve driven at least 700 miles in the last couple of weeks in search of this puppy.

Both our previous Chihuahua’s were fawn, or white and fawn. Maybe there’s a reason I didn’t get the little white female I was looking at. I can’t replace Darcy with a dog that looks or acts just like her. So I started looking at other colors. After seeing so many pictures and litters I really got quite taken with the puppies that have a mask on their face.

Monday of this week I saw a litter that had 3 fawn males…but one in particular had the face mask and a sable stripe down his little back. He was quite shy but I sat on the floor and let him get use to me. Eventually he found my rings and was quite happy trying to get it into his mouth. Tomorrow I am going back to take one last look and make sure he’s the one. If so I will put a deposit on him. He will be ready to go to a new home July 4th week which I will be gone. However the breeder already told me there is no problem keeping him until I get back. So that’s where it stands. Wish me luck and nothing goes wrong this time! Will update you tomorrow.

Nothing like the joy of a new pet.

Oh Elaine I’m so sorry the pup you wanted got pulled from underneath you. But like you said, it was probably meant to be. Another dog with similar features just couldn’t replace Darcy.
Keep us posted on which lil critter you decide on. I know you’ll give it the love and care he/she needs. (((hugs)))

Whoops almost forgot! You asked if I had entered any of my photos in any contest. Honestly I haven’t. If you come across a nice legitmate contest for nature photos that doesn’t require you to sell your photos to them, let me know!
