Life, Puppy and Recalls

Wow it’s been 5-6 days since I’ve updated this blog. Last week was hectic with hubby working from home. Besides work, new puppy we’ve also been working on financial planning for retirement. Now I gotta tell ya, that is not a fun way to spend the afternoon with a financial planner/trust expert. For us baby boomers though it’s critical since there is no guarantee the Federal Government will be able to sustain Social Security and Medicare when we all hit retirement age.

Little Poco is doing great! He loved having a male in the house that gets down on the floor and plays rougher than his Momma plays. Of course when he’s all tuckered out it’s still Momma he wants to snuggle up with.

* He can up the stairs now!! All 13 of them. However he can’t go down yet. It must look pretty steep to a little dog of his size.

* We made 2 trips to PetSmart hubby buying him more stuff! He now has 2 beds, one downstairs and one upstairs, toys on each level. His new nickname is Prince Poco. We do spoil him but also train him to be a good pet which he is truly becoming!

* He starts puppy class tomorrow with a trainer. I signed him up for 4 one hour classes. It’s critical that he’s ready to travel by the end of August, either by air or car. One reason I wanted another Chihuahua is because they can go in a pet carrier and go under the seat in the airplane.

* I told you before his ears are up :-) Here are 2 pictures for you. First one snoozing on Dad, the second one playing with a little stuffed toy, gives you and idea how small he still is:

And now for another recall notice, this one from Sara Lee for 27 different whole wheat products. Seems most of us buy whole wheat bread nowadays so be careful folks! I buy EarthGrains and did check even though I do not live in one of the states listed.

The problem apparently developed in a flour-sifting machine, which company spokesman Mark Goldman described to the wire service as “not up to our specification and raised the possibility some metal could have dislodged.” The problem was only at the Meridian bakery, Goldman added.

The products have been sold in Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri and Tennessee, the A.P. reports. The brands are EarthGrains, Publix, Sara Lee Delightful, Sara Lee Hearty and Delicious. Other affected brands were stamped “best if purchased by” July 25, 2007, to Aug. 7, 2007, and included the code “222.”

Consumers who may have questions or concerns should call Sara Lee’s toll-free consumer line at (800) 683-3466. The consumer line is available from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Central Time.
