It’s been 9 days with little Poco. I have purposely not said anything about him to give us time to adjust and seriously work on the potty training. Like all 8 week old puppies the first few days he was scared, cried, followed me around incessantly, and just wanted to be held.
He actually took to going outside the second day he was here! So how is he now at 9 weeks old? Full of piss and vinegar as my Dad would say. He has discovered he can run! Runs in circles in the front yard and wipes out rolling over and over. He discovered mulch. I take the mulch out of his mouth and toss it back to the flower bed, he finds another piece. I tell him not to eat the grass, he spits it out and runs in circles again until his little legs give out and tumbling he goes.
Inside he pretty much stays in the kitchen/family room area. He’ll run lightening speed across the oak floors in the kitchen and literally jump when he’s getting close to the rug in the family room. He loves to play as all puppies do. Every now and then those razor sharp puppy teeth make contact when he’s getting too excited. A squeal from me lets him know “that hurt” and he’s back to showering me with kisses. I went to Pet Smart today and bought him more toys and puppy rawhides which he has been happily chewing on for the last 2 hours.
He still can’t go up and down the stairs yet. I’m looking forward to when he can! All in all things are going very well and he truly is a sweetheart. He makes me smile, laugh, and get down on the floor playing like a kid. And when he’s all tuckered out we hit the couch he snuggles up in the crook of my arm with his little head across my chest. Life is good

Elaine, I’m so happy for you. Poco sounds like a wonderful lil guy. And WOW on him already going outside! That is great! Keep us up to date on how things are going with you and Poco. I apologize for not keeping up lately, this class is getting the better of me!

What a sweet pup! I love him and I don’t even know him. I remember housetraining my dog, who’s now 2. I found it trying, but eventually it ‘took’. Phew!

Elaine, you got yourself a puppy, how sweet, and its so cute, Now you will have company. It takes a lot of patience to train them but you probably are the perfect person for it. It has been forever since I’ve been by to visit… Little Poco is adorable!!!
I’ve been so busy with job and all.. and then went on private because of harrassment again. Sometimes I think I will just give this blogging all up…. just hard to quit when I’ve made some very nice friends. Anyway…. I’m going to read your posts… I hope all else is well for you.
