So late yesterday afternoon I make the dreaded airport run to pick up hubby. Thank God it’s not snowing though! The timing was perfect. I was one exit away from the airport when my cell phone rings telling me he had landed and was heading towards passenger pick-up area. I was minutes away. For anyone who does a lot of passenger pick up at airports you know just how tricky the timing can be! Get there too early and the cop is moving you along. Both arriving about the same time is “priceless”.
Back on I-94 we discuss where to eat dinner. Close to home or stop in Ann Arbor? In warmer months it’s ALWAYS Ann Arbor, a liberal college town. There are many good restaurants with patio dining where you can enjoy your meal and watch the world go by. Afterwards go walking along Main Street filled with interesting people and eclectic shops. We go there much less in winter months but yesterday decided to go our favorite seafood restaurant. I needed my salmon fix.
There is a small parking lot, maybe 25-30 cars close to the restaurant. It’s usually filled and most of the time end up parking in the downtown garage. Yesterday though there was one space open and he pulls in next to a white CBS news van. Hmm we’re thinking, wonder what’s going on here? We get out, collect change for the meter and a guy from the van walks to the side panel where he’s hooking up wires or something.
My husband asks him, “what’s the news”?
He replies, “people running naked”.
There is a naked mile run in the spring. Remember this is Ann Arbor. Have NO idea what was going on yesterday but we didn’t see any naked runners while walking to the restaurant. It was 29°! A little cold for baring it all. Maybe not for a college kid though

And here I thought after reading about the news truck that it was politically related. But, no.. ha.
Here’s wishing you an enjoyable time with hubby. Glad the weather was OK for that drive to and from your airport!
lol sounds about par for the course in a college town, we are not to far from Ferris and you never know what you are going to see there either. Your poor hubby came home just in time for our cold snap, sure hope you hadn’t packed away the woolies yet! stay warm.
Elaine,
So enjoyed going along with you through your day! Glad you are getting time with your hubby. Like Nooner, I was thinking maybe the news was something political and had to laugh at the “naked” news. College towns have a certain atmosphere. We live in one ourselves. (Not including naked people running around (; of course.) I used to love stopping, eating a meal, enjoying historic scenery, or architecture, and the youthful ambiance, when travelling.
Thank you for your good wishes on using my new iPod. How cool that we have the same one! I liked your idea for a solution for having a little privacy and distraction on a plane! I am really excited about my PIP and would love to exchange tips and information on using them. My hubby just purchased “iPod The Missing Manual” for me and I will let you know if I learn anything helpful.
Love and hugs,
Beth
Alright you two…No naked running this weekend.
Um… how come I’ve never seen these ‘naked runs’. I’ve lived in college towns. I think they are just rumors. ;o)
This post would be more enjoyable with photos!
Hmmm, Hubby, salmon and naked runners. Sounds like a good time to me!
Have fun you two!
Nooner – my first thougt too when I saw the truck! Especially the day after the MI primary.

Joyce- it is a cold one! Stay warm up there!
Beth – looking forward to any tips you can give me
Greg – too darn cold, inside or out
Grandalfe – will send you the articles in the spring when U of M has it’s naked run. I won’t be there of course.
Laoch - I agree! If I run across any naked runners will try to have my camera handy ( or at least my cell phone).
Kirk - good weekend, cold but I’m not complaining.
