How’s your weather today? Here in Michigan it’s holding steady all day at 10 – 12° F with wind-chill from -5 to -15°! Pretty darn cold out there. Which brings me to the subject of this post ~~ UGG boots.
I have many boots, from expensive Anne Klein to several different pairs/styles of hiking boots. Day hikers and my favorite leather Timberlands that I wear in the snow and on the hiking trails. What I don’t have is a pair of UGGS, the wonderful sheepskin boot from Australia. It’s cold and I want a pair now!
So off to Nordstrom’s we go today (after Pet Smart picking up dog food and toys for Poco). For any woman with small feet Nordstrom’s is the only department store that carries small sizes and more than a few pairs.
My husband wanders off to the high heeled sexy black leather ones….”sure you don’t want a pair of these”? YES I AM SURE, as I drag him back to the practical warm boots that I need right now!
Finally my salesperson brings me out an assortment of warm boots, but only
one UGG, and why is that? There are NO UGGS! I am told the next shipment is the end of January and there are 500 people on the waiting list! You’ve got to be frickin kidding me, course I am too polite to say that.
We ask about ordering them online………I will get them in March. Clearly this is not going well for me. Back to the one pair of UGGS he did bring out in a size 6. It’s a light colored tan and it’s the display model which means one foot has been tried on and stretched out to about 3 sizes bigger than a 6! That clearly won’t work and I want black anyway.
So off to the computer he goes trying to locate this boot for me in black in a size 6. Comes back and tells me there are there some located in the southern stores. Hmm do southerners even have a need for UGGS?
My new UGG’S will arrive in 5-7 days, hopefully it will still be cold then. Never know with this crazy weather, blizzards one day and tornadoes a few days later. But I’m prepared with my assortment of boots!
If you haven’t read the UGG story it’s pretty interesting. Apparently Oprah discovered them too and gave them to all her staff. And always Kudos’ to Nordstrom’s for the superior customer service they consistently deliver.

We have had more snow this year than usual and it just snowed the other day and left us icey. It was -12F last night and that isn’t unusual for here. We aren’t near as cold as the upper part of our province and the Chinook winds will move the snow and mellow us out eventually.
Your boots look nice and I hope they get there in time to be of service to you this winter. I am thinking that they will

There you go then. Wangle your way into Oprah’s staff, tell you that you live in Michigan and how cold it is there and you’ll get all the UGG’s you’ll need. Then collect your pay until the beginning of Summer, quit and go back to Michigan. There–boots and spending money…done!

Well I tried on a pair of the UGG Boots to check to see what size I needed, shocked to find out that I could not get my foot into them. I had no intentions of buying the boots here in Canada especially with our dollar at par with the US dollar, all I wanted to know what size to order from Nordstom on the internet as they sell the boots for at least $100.00 dollars cheaper than you can buy them here in Canada….However being that I was at the mall and knowing that I would not be able to order the UGG (because of sizeing) I went to another store and found almost the exact same boots made in Australia 100 percent Sheep skin the same as UGG and even here they were $100.00 cheaper than UGG here. they are called Warmbats and are very comfortable perhaps you should try them out especially with the UGG being so tight in the leg part that I cannot get my foot into it

Mary Anne – glad you found some that are warm and that fit well. My UGGS did arrive in 2 days and they fit well, no problem there at all. Have worn them every day since, bitter cold here and snow almost every day.
With a brand like UGGs, they will always be priced at a premium almost everywhere unless the model was a flop. And then when you find a pair at a little non-mainstream boutique the taxation goes up even more. I just dropped $80 on these house slippers for my girlfriend a few months back which was mind blowing to me since my reefs were only $50ish and can go outside. The trick is to find the style you love in the store and then go discount hunting online. Kinda a pain, but worth it in the end.
The Ugg phenomenon is a strange one. Yes, I’ve tried them and yes, they are comfortable. But so are several other brands (no, not the ones I’ve seen at Payless and Target). I’ve tried some others like Emu and Bearclaw and they are just as comfy for half the price. I’m not sure about the quality, but the Uggs didn’t strike me as being quite durable, especially for nasty weather duty. Honestly, I’ve just seen tweens wearing them mostly. It never ceases to amaze me how their parents are willing to shell out $120 for the Ugg brand.

Found a little site that sold me 2 pair of classic UGGS. They were on sale saved about 40% off the retail price. I know they are real as my friends father owns a store that sells them and we compared my to the ones he sold. The shipping came on time as described. It is scary to buy stuff online but I would recommend this site.
