The bad thing about planning a winter vacation is it’s smack dab in the midst of cold/flu season! I don’t have the flu (knock on wood) but something is going on with my sinuses. Throbbing headache over one eye, stuffed up and congested, not feeling sick but not feeling great either if you know what I mean.
13 days till we leave for Playa del Carmen, whatever this is better be gone by then! We did purchase the cancellation insurance though, can cancel for any reason and get a full refund. I hope it doesn’t come to that.
Off to the couch and listen to the Sunday political talk shows. Who’s up, who’s down, Clinton and Obama slugging it out and John McCain trying to unite the GOP. Entertainment at it’s best, maybe it will put me to sleep.
(Tomorrow is President’s Day, thought it fitting to change the header to the Washington Monument).

Oh gosh no, don’t get the flu and have to cancell your trip. I’ll keep my fingers crossed. Hubby on round two, I’m not totally over round one, still have drainage and gunk. I’ll spare you the details. *G*
Are you NUTS?
Cancel a trip to Playa Del Carmen? Unless you’ve been there so many times, it’s no big deal. Well then shut up.
Otherwise, GOOOOOOOO. What a perfect place to be sick. Lie in on the beach or in a Cabana and moan and groan (from feeling bad, I mean.)
Nice header!
I hope you get well in time to take your trip. We have all had a sinus infection type thing here at my house, so hopefully that is all you have. The flu can be terrible!
Of course you won’t have to cancel your vacation. That’s why your sick now instead of 2 days before you leave. Wrap up, drink lots of fluids, take your vitamin C and dream of warm tropical winds, clear blue (nearly bathtub warm) water and all that kind of stuff and you’ll be over the galloping crude and getting ready to pack. And don’t forget your shades.
Sending you healing vibes
Oh, you’ll be fine by vacation-leave-time! I’ll keep my fingers crossed that you will be perfectly fine by then!
~Nooner~
Ugh, I hate when that happens. Maybe a doc could take a look at you and perhaps prescribe some meds? You should be just fine for the trip, but it wouldn’t hurt to make sure–sinuses are nothing you want to ignore.
Don’t cancel. (I’ll just go in your stead. Hope you’ll husband won’t mine.
)
I’ve had the sniffles too due to the oscillating pattern of weather. 5 degrees. Then 40 degrees. Snow, then rain. (I get 3 hours a day of driving in it- opening the doors to deliver.)
Your last comment on baseball: I don’t think congress is at all scared, as much as they know, the baseball establishment did know.
Just a few names:
Kevin Towers – long-time GM of San Diego Padres, Ken Caminiti played for him. And was the first ex-player to speak out to Tom Verducci of Sports Illustrated. He also had Theo Epstein now of the Boston Red Sox working under him.
Sandy Alderson – Currently, Executive VP of Operations for MLB under Commissioner Selig. Past: He was GM of Oakland A’s when Jose Canseco & Mark Mcgwire were both there along with manager Tony LaRussa, who acquire Big Mac for the Cardinals.
Pres. Bush – managing partner when Canseco was traded to Texas. Rafael Palmeiro was also on the team. (Both could have had background checks given Bush’s power and access to the right people.)
Rob Manfred – Executive VP of Labor Relations for MLB. Was asked by Com. Bud Selig to research androstenedione after McGwire was caught red handed “in 1998″ with this substance.
Believe me, if “connections” are not convincing, then a thorough investigation would reveal a much more knowledge than the establishment has been willing to report. (Playing dumb or “surprised” by player’s actions is something to keep the media, fans and congress in support of the power brokers.)
Thank you all for your comments and good wishes! Forgive me for not replying to each of you. I am feeling better, the intense pounding pain has let up, I’m still congested but nothing like yesterday. If it stays like this I will be fine. If not I will go to the doctor.
Hoping everyone stays healthy (or is recovering).
Elaine,
Came in late on the comments, but my wishes are just as sincere that you will be completely well soon and ready for that trip.
I think your advice to me would be to rest much, drink plenty of refurbishing liquids, take needed meds…and get well. =)
That Ronald Reagan quote still has me laughing! Wishing you and your hubby a great President’s Day! (George Washington and Abraham Lincoln birthday salute!)
I sure do miss the great sales and shopping events!
Love and hugs,
Beth
Don’t DON’T get sick!!! It’s a miserable feeling to have to cancel a vacation like we just did!
…and as for politics, it’s the most fascinating “reality show” going at the moment!
Stay healthy and have a great day!
