I normally do not post jokes that make it’s way to my inbox but after hearing on the evening news that our economy lost 80,000 jobs in March this one is fitting.
…………………………………………………………………………………………………………….
President George Bush said each one of us would get a $600.00 tax rebate. It was previously slated to be $800.00, but they dropped it to a $600.00 tax rebate because of various budget problems.
Now, if we spend that money at Wal-Mart, all the money will go to China, if we spend it on computers, most of the money will go to Korea or India. If we spend it on gasoline it will all go to the Arabs …… and none of these scenarios will help the American economy.
We need to keep that money here in America…..so the only way to keep that money here at home is to drink beer, gamble, or spend it on prostitution. Currently it seems that these are the only businesses still left in the U.S.![]()

Bummer! Suzy and I were going to spend ours on Jägermeister.

Well, we are going to use ours to pay the high cost of Canadian living. This is approximately one third more than the cost of American living, even though the dollar is supposed to be around equity, and that doesn’t include the much higher tax and fee you to death rate. This includes the Canadian Health Care, (similar to American state welfare programs), that doesn’t include your eye care, teeth care, or medications, which you have to purchase extra health care for. Don’t get me started on what else is NOT included. At least American welfare clinics will give you free samples of high quality prescription medicine.
Any left over splurge has already gone to purchasing imported good old Virginia Peanuts from Williamsburg, and books and videos from the good old U.S.A.! Laughing with REBA will help ease the pain.
Amusing but sadly as an economic idea its wrong.
Rob and I understand this all too well, as his job outsourced to Mexico exactly one year ago this March 30th. Just today, he read that Hershey is going to be outsourcing to Mexico, also. Even many IT jobs have outsourced to India. Things like WHEAT are even purchased from China, while OUR farmers are being paid NOT to produce… It seems that it does not leave much to us Americans.
On a high note, though, Rob graduated from Massage Therapy School just recently. We can not only gamble and drink our money away, but we can all go for massages! That is one of the types of jobs that cannot be oursourced!
Thanks for sharing. I will definitely be passing this joke along!
Funny! Thanks for sharing!
Maybe place it under the mattress. Much the same in Australia, fact is, most if not all our consumables come from overseas. It’s not good…Good post Elaine!
Homegrown. You forgot good old American homegrown. Invest today.
er…sorry…it’s the prescription medications they make me take.
Grandalfe – that’s one drink I’ve never tried, not even in my younger days
I bought some too the last time I was in Williamsburg. I love visiting there!
When we were in Mexico last month for vacation we indulged in a couples massage, it was wonderful!! You’re absolutely right, that’s at least one industry that can’t be outsourced!
Beth – I have other Canadian friends who say the same about the high cost of living. Enjoy those peanuts
Laoch – so they say. Nonetheless I will spend ours.
Julie – congrats to Rob
Heidi – you’re welcome
Otto – it’s very sad for America, we use to be the biggest producers in so many industries, now all gone.
Kirk – lol what kind of homegrown are we talking here
LOL… Yeah, it can’t be outsourced, but in your case, You were in Mexico, already…
It is great to hear you enjoyed a couples massage. How was it??
This would explain the behavior of out elected officials. They’re not carousing … they’re keeping the local economies going.
