This is one nice looking car! Maybe this will be the car to put GM back in the game.
General Motors Corp. said Tuesday its Chevrolet Volt rechargeable electric car should get 230 miles per gallon of gasoline in city driving, more than four times the mileage of the current champion, the Toyota Prius.
GM: Volt To Get 230 MPG In City – Detroit Local News Story – WDIV Detroit

Nice looking car ideed..most times you think the ones that save all that mileage look terrible.. 230 MPG is really out there.. if only we all could own one.. I heard on the news that some new cars were getting harder to find now that the incentive program is underway. They will have to go back to work sooner or later to make some kind of replacements. GOOD for Michigan whenever that time comes.
Keep in mind please, that’s not an EPA rated number. We’ll see how well it does when the EPA gets ahold of it and tests it.
I’d guess it’s a bit over 100MPG, impressive as that is.

There are a number of attractive, alternative fuel vehicles coming up. I have my eye on the Fisker Karma.

Amazing what possible insolvency, high gas prices and economic unravel does to motivate innovation isn’t it? And in so little time too.
Sarcasm aside, let’s hope the new hybrids like the Volt will eventually become profitable enough to drive the price down (they’re not now at $40,000 a pop). Even GM doubts the ability of the Volt to become profitable to them for quite some time. And America really needs innovations like this to become viable option not only for the general pop but for the companies that make them.
