A Pinch Less Salt

I know I harp on this all the time but some people still just don’t get it! Almost without fail when out in a restaurant I’ll see someone at a nearby table pick up the salt shaker and liberally salt their food before even tasting it.

Cutting daily salt intake by three grams – just over a teaspoon — could prevent 32,000 strokes and 54,000 heart attacks a year. So say researchers at the University of California, San Francisco who developed a novel computer program to predict the clinical impact of salt reduction.

    I never add salt. As a pregnant teen, I had pre eclampsia. Learned then to leave the salt off. Now I just don’t like salty things.

    You don’t even have to cut it all out. Just take a little away here and there. It can make all the difference in the world.

    But jeesh… you have to at least taste the food before you go dumping salt on it!

    I do not salt any of my food anymore, not even eggs or corn on a cob and I am probably still getting more sodium than I need through the food we purchase or meals we eat out.
