Kellogg Recalls Breakfast Cereal

Sheesh what is up with all these recalls? Another one hot off the newswire.

Kellogg Co. is recalling about 28 million boxes of cereal, saying some consumers could experience such temporary symptoms as nausea and diarrhea because of the liner in the packaging.

The cereal maker, working with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, said the voluntary recall covers certain boxes of its Apple Jacks, Corn Pops, Froot Loops and Honey Smacks cereals distributed nationwide. The products’ better-if-used-before dates range from March 26, 2011, to June 22, 2011.

Kellogg said the potential for serious health problems "is low" but some consumers are sensitive to the "uncharacteristic off-flavor and smell" coming from the linings.

The company is "working diligently to ensure that the affected products are rapidly removed from the marketplace," Kellogg President and Chief Executive David Mackay said in a press release.

A company spokesperson declined to say how many boxes of cereal Kellogg produces.

Kellogg said those with questions about the recall can call the company at 888-801-4163.
