Snack on some strawberries. A cup has up to 130 percent of the daily recommendation of vitamin C, a potent antioxidant that boosts production of collagen fibers that help keep skin smooth and firm. More C may mean fewer fine lines too. Women with lower intakes were likelier to have dry, wrinkled skin. Early research also shows that ellagic acid, an antioxidant abundant in strawberries protects the elastic fibers that keep skin from sagging.

whether they are good for me or not, I love strawberries and eat them everyday that they are in season….YUM
I even blend them in with my 1% milk and drink them. LOL
Mary Anne you remind me of my Mother and I say that with a smile and quite affectionately. She LOVED strawberries and we had them all summer long as a kid. Strawberry shortcake made from Bisquick was a summertime favorite in our house. That and fresh corn on the cob.
Well, that’s good news! I’ve been buying 2 boxes every week since they’ve been in season.
I’ve been buying them too Cindy. I’ve always known they were full of vitamin C and antioxidants but never gave that much thought in regard to skin. Anything to boosts collagen production is an added boost!
Good tip. I have nothing else to say but apparently my comment must be longer.
LOL sorry about that, it gets you every time doesn’t it
We just finished our second gallon of strawberries!
I am so glad to know about the anti-sagxidant properties! I can use that!
Hey, I also just learned that NC is #4 in strawberry production, I think after CA, FL, and WA. UNC at Chapel Hill ( know the place?
) has a huge research program to find the perfect strawberry. There’s even an iPhone app to “find a strawberry farm near you” in NC, “NCSA Farm Locator.”
LOL ‘anti-sagxidant’ good one Ferd, will have to remember that one. I will have to tell Sarah about the UNC quest for the perfect strawberry. Pretty kewl that NC is #4 in production, though that does not surprise me. Leave to Apple, ‘there’s an app for that.’
Thanks for an interesting article.
It’s great that you don’t only have to eat gross things like brussel sprouts (which I hate) to be healthy. Eating a delicious strawberry is good for both your body and your mind !
